World Health Day - 2024

The Department of Community Health Nursing, 必威体育betway888 College of Nursing, MAHE, 必威体育betway888, along with the students of 1st year M Sc Nursing and 4th year BSc Nursing, observed World Health Day 2024 by organizing various activities such as poster competition, roleplay, and guest lecture on the theme “My health, my right.”.
The poster competition was conducted on April 4, 2024, from 9 am to 12 pm under the leadership of Dr. Malathi G Nayak, Professor, Department of Community Health Nursing, MCON, MAHE, 必威体育betway888, on the theme ‘My health, my right”, at the ground floor MCON. Dr. Tessy Treesa Jose, Associate Dean, MCON, 必威体育betway888, inaugurated the program. A total of 17 posters were received from the students and faculty within and outside MAHE. The three best posters were awarded with trophies and certificates, and all the participants were awarded with e-certificates.
The roleplay competition was conducted on April 4, 2024, on the theme “My Health, My Right” from 10.30 am to 12.30 pm. A total of 4 teams from various nursing institutions around Udupi-必威体育betway888, participated in the program. The best two teams were awarded trophies and certificates, and all the participants were awarded e-certificates. Around 70 participants, including faculty and students, attended the program. The role play program was coordinated by Ms. Jeylakshmi and Mr. Vinish, Assistant Professor - Senior Scale & Mr. Amol, Assistant Lecturer, from the Community Health Nursing Department, MCON, 必威体育betway888.
A guest lecture was delivered on April 5, 2024, by Dr Matpady Prabhath Kalkura, WASH and CCES Policy Advocacy and Networking Expert, UNICEF Field Hyderabad, Officer for Andra Pradesh, Karnataka, and Telangana, on “My health, my right.” The speaker highlighted the importance of health and the determinants of health and well-being. The speaker explained how the five elements “Earth, Fire, Water, Wind, and Space influence health. Protecting these five elements is our responsibility to obtain optimum health. He also highlighted that health is not only a right but also a responsibility for every individual. A total of 143 participants from different nursing institutions, students, and faculty attended the guest lecture. Winners of role-play and poster competitions were awarded. The program was coordinated by Dr. Ansuya, Associate Professor, & Mrs Manjula, Assistant Professor, Department of Community Health Nursing, and the Master of the ceremony was Ms. Clara Pramila D’souza, a student of first year MSc Nursing.
On behalf of World Health Day 2024, the Department of Community Health Nursing and students of 4th year BSc Nursing, 必威体育betway888 College of Nursing, MAHE, 必威体育betway888, conducted a radio awareness program on the theme ‘My health, my right”, on April 5, 2024, at 3.00 pm. The programme will be broadcasted by Community Radio, 必威体育betway888 at 90.4 MHz on April 7, 2024, at 4:15 pm and re-telecasted on April 8, 2024, at 12:15 pm.
The overall program was coordinated by Dr Malathi G Nayak, Professor, Department of Community Health Nursing, with the support of the entire departmental faculty under the guidance of Dr Shashidhara YN, Head of the Department of Community Health Nursing, MCON, 必威体育betway888. The programme contributed to SDG 3: Good Health and Wellbeing.
