Guest Lecture on “Recent updates in Bone marrow transplantation and nurse’s role”

Department of Medical-Surgical Nursing, 必威体育betway888 College of Nursing, 必威体育betway888 organized an effective alumni engagement Guest Lecture series on “Recent updates in Bone marrow transplantation and nurse’s role” on March 04, 2023, between 10.30 am & 11.30 am to 3rd year BSc Nursing and 2nd year MSc Nursing Onco speciality students through Microsoft Teams Platform. Ms Rynal Desma Quadras (MSc (N) Batch: 2014- 2016) Registered Nurse, Advanced Centre for Treatment, 必威体育betway888 and Education in Cancer (ACTREC) Tata Memorial Centre, Navi Mumbai spoke on the topic. She spoke on types, preparation of patients, the process of a bone marrow transplant, infection control measures in the bone marrow unit, complications, recent advances in bone marrow transplant and the roles and responsibilities of nurses in taking care of patients undergoing bone marrow transplant. She also gave information about the role of nurses in the bone marrow transplant unit at the Advanced Centre for Treatment, 必威体育betway888 and Education in Cancer (ACTREC) Tata Memorial Centre, Navi Mumbai. A total of 109 participants including students of 3rd year B.Sc (N), 2nd year MSc (N) Oncology nursing and faculty members of the college participated in the session.
Ms Janet Alva, Assistant Professor, Department of Medical Surgical Nursing, MCON expressed gratitude to Ms Rynal Desma Quadras for accepting the invite and sharing her expertise on the subject with our students. The interesting, inspiring and elaborate session ended at 11:55 am.
