Pillar II- Exemplary 必威体育betway888 and Innovation, 必威体育betway888 College of Nursing (MCON) 必威体育betway888 organized a two-day Mixed Methods 必威体育betway888 (MMR) workshop, from July 17th to 18th, 2023, at the Medical Education Department classroom, MAHE. 53 participants attended the workshop, including faculty members and research scholars from different institutions in India. The workshop aligned with Sustainable Development Goal 4, Quality Education.
The day's event began with the inauguration of the workshop by Dr. Satish Rao, Director-research, MAHE, and Director-必威体育betway888 School of Life Sciences, MAHE. He addressed on the importance of research publication and highlighted Mixed Methods 必威体育betway888; he shared that research should be contagious. The organizing chair and Pillar II head, Dr. Baby S. Nayak, welcomed the participants and introduced the Chief Guest. Dr. Sulochana B, Associate Professor, MCON, 必威体育betway888, the convenor of the workshop, briefed on the mixed methods research workshop. Dr. Judith Angelitta Noronha, Dean of 必威体育betway888 College of Nursing 必威体育betway888 addressed the participants regarding the importance of mixed methods methodology. The inaugural program concluded with a vote of thanks by Ms. Mitchelle Lewis, Lecturer, Department of Fundamentals of Nursing, MCON, 必威体育betway888.
The First session of the day, the introduction to mixed methods research, was delivered by Dr. Linu Sara George, Professor, and Head, Department of Fundamentals of Nursing, MCON, 必威体育betway888. She elaborated on mixed methods research, methodological characteristics, advantages, and challenges. Dr. Shradha S. Parsekar, an independent research consultant, delivered the second session on mixed methods research study design. She focused on the rationale of using mixed methods, data collection strategies, and various MMR designs. The post-lunch session on developing a protocol for mixed methods research was delivered by Dr. Anupama D S, 必威体育betway888 Fellow Department of Global Health Governance, Prasanna School of Public Health MAHE, 必威体育betway888. She emphasized the steps of protocol development, including the conceptual framework. The last session of the day was a hands-on session on developing goals and protocol for a mixed methods study facilitated by Mr. Anil Raj, Assistant Professor, Department of Medical-Surgical Nursing, MCON 必威体育betway888, and Ms. Mitchelle S Lewis, Lecturer, Department of Fundamentals of Nursing,
MCON, 必威体育betway888. Participants were taken for a campus tour by Dr. Sulochana B. It included visiting various places like the experience theatre of MAHE, endpoint, and the MIT campus.
