Report on Global Handwashing Day - 2024

As part of Global Handwashing Day 2024, the faculty of the Department of Community Health Nursing and students of the 2nd year PBBSc Nursing, MCON, MAHE, 必威体育betway888 conducted an awareness program on the theme "Why are clean hands still important?" at St. Mary's High School, Shirva, on 15th October 2024 between 2.30 and 4.00 pm. The programme contributed to SDG 3: Good health and Well-Being; SDG 4: Quality Education; and?SDG 6: Clean Water and Sanitation.

The program was started with an invocation, which was led by Ms. Chaithra and the group, followed by a welcome speech by Ms. Flosita, II PBBSc Nursing. The Chief guests of the program were Ms. Joylin & Ms. Nisha, Community Health Officers, CHC, Shirva.

Mrs. Sabina Priya Noronha, Principal, St. Mary's High School, Shirva, gave a presidential address and expressed her gratitude for organizing an awareness program on handwashing. Ms. Joylin addressed the audience on the importance of handwashing and its significance in the prevention and control of communicable diseases. Mrs. Manjula, Assistant . Professor, MCON, MAHE, addressed the theme and the significance of the day.

A role play was performed on the theme and Swachh Bharath Abhiyaan by the 2nd year PBBSc Nursing students with the help of PowerPoint presentation and an action song followed by a quiz. Around 100 students from 6th to 10th standard were the beneficiaries of the program. The program was concluded with a vote of thanks by Ms. Chaithra. The faculty from MCON, five faculty from high school, and two Community Health Officers from CHC, Shirva, were present during the program. The program was well appreciated by all the participants.

The program was coordinated by Mrs. Manjula,?Assistant Professor, and Mr. Amol, Lecturer, MCON, MAHE, 必威体育betway888. Mr. Abhishek Kumar was the host, and Ms. Viona, II year PBBSc Nursing, was the student coordinator for the program.
