The programme began with an invocation followed by welcome speech by Mrs, Savithri, Secretary, Shri Kshethra Dharmasthala Rural Development Scheme and address by Mr. Yashavanth BK, President, Rotary Club Udupi Royal, Mr. Yogeesh Acharya, President, BC trust Brahmavar Taluk emphasized that the natural feeds to be encouraged; the new-borns should not be deprived of breastmilk and in this regard, an awareness for the mothers on importance of breast feeding is very much essential to promote adequate growth, development and to prevent mortality among children.

Mrs. Manjula, Assistant Professor, Department of Community Health Nursing, MCON, MAHE, 必威体育betway888 explained about the physiology of milk secretion, importance and benefits of early initiation and exclusive breastfeeding, techniques, position, problems associated with the breastfeeding and tips to overcome those problems.

She has also mentioned that there are female officers available to attend and respond to these issues to help the women in time. This service is available all 24 hours.

She has also emphasized on dietary requirements of mothers during breastfeeding.
Ms. Manjavva, Junior Health Assistant, Primary Health Centre, 必威体育betway888 explained about the importance of nutritious food for different age group.

The master of the ceremony was Mr. Rathnakar, the coordinator of the programme. The beneficiaries of the programme were the 35 community people comprised 30 females and 5 males.
