Report on the observation of World Health Day-2022
As part of Azadi Ka Amruth Mahotsav, the Department of Community Health Nursing, 必威体育betway888 College of Nursing, MAHE, 必威体育betway888 observed World Health day-2022 by organizing various activities such as a poster competition, and health talk and a role play by IV year BSc Nursing students at CHC Brahmavara and a webinar on the theme of World Health day - 2022.
The poster competition was held on 5-4-2022 at MCON, 必威体育betway888. Dr Judith A Noronha, Dean, MCON 必威体育betway888 inaugurated the programme. A total of 18 posters from students and faculty of different fields of health science, MAHE was displayed. The three best posters were awarded and prizes were distributed. The programme was organized by Mr Vinish V, Assistant Professor, Department of Community Health Nursing, MCON, MAHE, 必威体育betway888.
The IV year BSc Nursing students of the college organized an awareness programme on 7th April 2022 at Community Health Center, Brahmavara. The programme was inaugurated by Dr Ajith Kumar Shetty, Administrative Medical Officer, CHC Brahmavara, and addressed the audience on the theme and also the importance of inculcating healthy lifestyles and healthy behaviours to save our health and planet. Dr Mahabaleshwara KS, Pediatrician, CHC Brahmavara stressed on healthy environmental hygiene and its importance in maintaining children's health and also suggested to grow vegetables and fruits in their kitchen garden and utilising them. Dr Deekshitha, Obstetrician, CHC Brahmavar addressed the responsibilities of women in keeping environmental hygiene inside and outside their house and also maintaining personal hygiene to avoid health issues in female children and women, followed by Dr Pradeep Poojary, Dental surgeon and Dr Mahesh Aithal, Senior Medical officer, CHC Brahmavar addressing on oral hygiene and hand hygiene respectively. The students also demonstrated hand hygiene methods to the general public. A role play on “changing the world by changing ourselves to save our earth and restore health" was staged by the students. The students also participated in environmental cleaning activities in and around CHC Brahmavar. Dr Ansuya, Assistant Professor, and Mrs Reshma R Kotian, Lecturer, MCON, MAHE coordinated the event.
The seminar on the topic ‘Health Care Waste Management and ‘Environment and Health’ was organized on April 07, 2022, at 2 pm through the online (Microsoft Team platform) and blended mode to the students, faculty of MCON, MSON and other colleges of MAHE. The resource persons were Mrs Prescilla, Infection Control Nurse, Kasturba Hospital, 必威体育betway888 and Mr Gururaj A G, District Consultant for Quality Assurance, NHM, Udupi. Mrs Prescilla highlighted the importance of student nurses’ role in the control of cross-infection during their clinical posting. Mr Gururaj, in his address, explained the hazards and effects of biomedical waste. A total of 150 participants from different fields of health science attended the session online and in offline mode. Mrs Jeyalaxmi, Mrs Manjula and Mr Vinish V, Assistant Professors, MCON, MAHE coordinated the event.
