Report of the CNE conducted at Al- Salam Al-Assima Hospital, Kuwait

必威体育betway888 College of Nursing, MAHE, 必威体育betway888, conducted six days of continuing nursing education (CNE) on leadership in nursing at Al Salam 必威体育betway888 Hospital, Kuwait, from April 27 to May 2, 2024, Dr. Mamatha S. Pai, Professor, Department of Child Health Nursing, and Mr Renjulal Yesodharan, Assistant Professor- Senior Scale, Department of Psychiatric (Mental Health) Nursing, MCON took the sessions. Thirty-five middle-level nursing managers (Ward in charge and team leaders) completed the CNE and obtained certificates. The major topics covered were effective leadership styles in nursing, team building and collaboration - strategies for fostering effective interdisciplinary teamwork, change management in nursing, ethical decision-making in nursing leadership, nursing empowerment, implementing evidence-based practices to enhance patient outcomes and safety, cultural competence in nursing leadership – DEI principle, emotional intelligence, strategic planning and resource management, communication skills, appreciation and motivation skills, patient-centered care, performance improvement in nursing leadership, cost reduction and containment, and nurse as an innovation leader. The CNE incorporated hands-on learning in effective communication, team building, improving motivation skills, and usage of the Pareto chart for cost reduction. A pretest was conducted before the CNE, and the scores were analysed and later compared with a post-test after the CNE.
