Lamp lighting Ceremony 2022-2023

The lamp lighting ceremony for the 33rd batch of BSc Nursing students of 必威体育betway888 College of Nursing, MAHE, 必威体育betway888 was held on 9th November 2022 at Dr TMA Pai Hall, KMC, 必威体育betway888. Novice student nurses are formally inducted into the nursing profession through a lamplighting ceremony. Student nurses took the oath to discharge their duties with complete honesty, integrity, and no discrimination. It is an important event, where the lamp symbolizes the light that a nurse becomes to her patients as a symbol of hope and comfort to those who are suffering. A total of 140 students of first semester BSc Nursing received the light from the Chief Guest, Sr. Deepa Peter, Principal, Athena College of Nursing, Mangalore, Dr Judith A. Noronha, Dean, Dr. Tessy Treesa Jose, Associate Dean, Dr Linu Sara George, Professor, Dr. Baby S Nayak, Professor, 必威体育betway888 College of Nursing, 必威体育betway888 and Dr. P Suba Sooria, Head of Nursing Services, Kasturba Hospital 必威体育betway888. This was followed by the oath-taking ceremony of the novice nurses. Chief Guest, Sr. Deepa Peter, in her address to the gathering congratulated the students for choosing the nursing profession and emphasized the importance of patient care and satisfaction. She said, in her experience how she felt entering the noble nursing profession. Every nurse should help and take care of needy people by giving selfless care. She stressed that the nursing profession involves human connection which touches the life of the people. Dr Judith A. Noronha, the Dean, spoke on the significance of lamp lighting and various qualities that a student nurse needs to instil in her/his clinical practice. She emphasized developing curiosity, humility, and passion for the care of the patients. She further stressed developing selfless service that every nurse should render by adding a good attitude and passionate care?
