REPORT ON EFFECTIVE ALUMNI GUEST LECTURE SERIES – 14/2020
必威体育betway888 School of Nursing, MCON, MAHE, 必威体育betway888 organised a guest lecture by Mrs Sylvia Carol Mendonca (Diploma Nursing batch 2005-09). Infection Control Officer, Burjeel Royal Hospital, Abu – Dhabi, United Arab Emirates as part of effective alumni engagement guest lecture series – 14/2020 on 20th November 2020 from 10.30 – 11.30 a.m. The speaker spoke on the topic “Comprehensive COVID - 19 Guidelines for Healthcare professional”.
The main purpose of her talk was to assure the adoption of best practices to prevent and control the spread of COVID – 19, to ensure reporting of COVID – 19 cases to DOH as per requirements and to maximize the effective management of suspected and/or confirmed COVID – 19 cases.
Mrs Sylvia highlighted on epidemiology, laboratory diagnosis, infection prevention and control, contact tracing, management of health care workers exposed to COVID – 19, patient transport, treatment and management of deceased bodies in the mortuary.
It was a good session on COVID – 19 guidelines. On answering to the queries, she stressed on the importance of support to health care professionals who face a lot of challenges due to this pandemic. A total of 101 participants including interns and final year diploma nursing students (87) along with the faculty members (14) of MSON, 必威体育betway888 attended the guest lecture.
