On the occasion of World AIDS Day, the Department of Fundamentals of Nursing, 必威体育betway888 College of Nursing, MAHE, 必威体育betway888, organized an awareness session on HIV/AIDS for first-semester BSc Nursing students. The resource person for the session was Mrs. Charlet Jasmine Vaz, Assistant Professor, MCON, between 9.00 and 10.00 am. The resource person explained the causes, risk habits and transmission, prevention, diagnosis, and treatment. She also mentioned opportunistic infections, ART treatment, and social stigma for people living with HIV. She described two cases and the problems faced by those patients. The session was very informative. A total of 156 students attended and benefited from the session.

The Department of Fundamentals of Nursing, MCON, MAHE, 必威体育betway888, along with 14 first-semester students, conducted a role-play and awareness session regarding the risk factors, prevention, management, and social support in HIV/AIDS on December 02, 2024, at Perdoor High School between 2.00 and 4.00 pm. A total of 75 students and five teachers attended the role play. The students appreciated and gained knowledge. A drawing competition was held on the theme “Take the Right Path: My health, my right." A total of 20 students participated in the competition. Three evaluators evaluated the drawings. First, second, and third prizes were given. First place was bagged by Vishnu from 8th standard, second prize was bagged by Shwetha from 10th standard, and third place was bagged by Kiran Kumar from 9th standard.

The event significantly contributed to the promotion of Sustainable Development Goal 3 - "Good Health and Wellbeing".
