School-Based Health Clinic at Marne

A School-Based Health Clinic was conducted on 21st September 2017, by the Second year M.Sc Nursing students and faculty of Department of Community Health Nursing, 必威体育betway888 College of Nursing, 必威体育betway888 at Government Aided Higher Primary School, Marne.

It was an integrated health clinic which included the different health services such as general health check-up, Dental and Eye health check-up, Yoga and Counselling. The programme was coordinated and guided by Mrs. Jeyalakshmi K, Assistant Professor, MCON, 必威体育betway888. ?

The programme was inaugurated by the Chief Guest Mr. Karunakar, Vice-president Marne Panchayath, Mr. Krishna Nayak, Head Master of the school and representatives from each health department’s involved. Dr. Shashidhara Y N, HOD, Department of Community Health Nursing, MCON, 必威体育betway888 addressed the school children on the importance of health in life, good lifestyle habits and hand hygiene. ?

Thirty eight school children and four teachers had a health check-up by the doctors from the department of community medicine, dentistry and ophthalmology. Medications were provided based on the prescription and informed regarding follow-up check-ups. Ophthalmology and dental department referrals were given to the children for the further treatment and follow-up. Health education on personal hygiene and worm infestation were given. ?

Yoga session for children was taken by Yoga therapist from the Department of Yoga for 45 minutes. Counselling was given for the children who have learning difficulties by the faculty of Department of Mental Health Nursing, MCON, 必威体育betway888. Finally, the children were provided with a leaflet which contains the information on balanced diet. The efforts of the 必威体育betway888 College of Nursing in organizing School-Based Clinic was appreciated by the School administration.
