REPORT ON FACULTY DEVELOPMENT PROGRAM 2023

The Continuing Nursing Education committee of 必威体育betway888 College of Nursing MAHE 必威体育betway888 organized Faculty Development Program on July 24 & 25, 2023. The chief guest, Dr K Ramnarayan, Pro chancellor, Sikkim 必威体育betway888 University, Emeritus Professor of Medical Education – MAHE, sensitized the faculty about formal and informal quadrants of individual and group learning and mentioned that faculty Development program occurs on day to day basis.
The first day session was on Celebrating teacherhood and MCQs on MCQs by Dr. Ramnarayan. The discussion was done on 10 checklists for effective preparation of MCQ. Afternoon presentation was done by all departments on practical competency assessment Rubrics and Reflections in handling theory and practical.
The second day session was on the Assay of Essay and formative assessment by Dr. Ramnarayan. In his talk, Dr. Ramnarayan highlighted that while setting essay questions, teachers need to give opportunities for students to bring out their ideas and creativity. The next session was on the use of Ovid MEDLINE for systematic reviews/ Meta-analysis and systematic reviews and literature search by Mr Rajeev Kumar, Training and implementation, Consultant, Wolter Kluwer’s. Faculty had hands-on experience in using Ovid MEDLINE in the session.
The final session for the day was on Redesigning your mind by Prof Tanuja Maben, Performance Coach, Mind trainer, and therapist. Prof Tanuja enlightened that all tasks can be done easily if our mind accepts them with happiness. A total of 67 faculty members attended FDP 2023. This activity is a part of SDG 4: Quality education.
