AROGYADAAN – HEARING SCREENING

As a part of Daan Utsav, 2016 the Department of Speech and Hearing along with Voluntary Service Organization SOAHS, had organized a hearing screening program along with fitness evaluation events. It was executed on the 3rd and 4th of October at Govt. High School, Parkala and Govt. High School, Udupi. 167 Students of two schools were screened.113 students at Govt high school, Parkala and 54 students of Govt. High School, Udupi were evaluated. The students in both the schools were in the age group of 13-16yrs. Pure Tone Audiometry screening was done for the students. Two GSI 18 Screening Audiometers which were used. Screening was done at frequencies - 500Hz at 60dBHL, 1KHz and 2KHz for 50dBHL keeping into consideration of ambient noise in the room.

45 students were referred for a further detailed evaluation. Students of 2nd and 3rd year BASLP and MASLP 1st year under the supervision of Ms. Bhargavi were engaged in the programme. "Arogyadaan" as the event was named, indeed was a wonderful experience. It'll be fitting to say that the Joy of Giving in every way makes the giver and the one who receives equally happy.
