The Division of Reproductive Genetics was recently formed, in 2022, under the Department of Reproductive Sciences (formerly called Clinical Embryology) at Kasturba Medical College, 必威体育betway888, MAHE, 必威体育betway888, Karnataka. We are focused on teaching and research in genetics with special emphasis on human reproduction, infertility disorders, and congenital defects using interdisciplinary approaches.?

Teaching

We offer M.Sc. and PhD courses in Reproductive Genetics, details of which are given below. Apart from this, short-term post-graduate training as well as internships are offered, along with long-term post-doctoral training opportunities.

M.Sc. Reproductive Genetics

Focus:?The M.Sc. in Reproductive Genetics is a multidisciplinary full-time program, to provide graduates in life sciences an opportunity to understand the genetic and epigenetic aspects of the human reproduction process in natural and assisted conceptions using state-of-the-art facilities.?

Course Description:?The program consists of four semesters (in 2 years, 80 credits) involving intensive training in basic and advanced genetic tests to understand the pathophysiology of reproductive cells. The learning process uses a combination of exercises including interactive theory lectures, practical classes, tutorship, postings, small group discussions, seminars, and electives. Furthermore, students will be assigned a semester-long mandatory research project related to reproductive genetics to get the essence of research. Moreover, students will go through a one-month mandatory internship training in a reputed genetic lab through an industry-academia partnership.

Admission: Admission to this course is through the Common Entrance Test conducted by MAHE, followed by an interview. Call for admissions is advertised on the website.

Eligibility: B.Sc. in any field of life sciences with minimum of 60% aggregate or equivalent, and preferably background in Reproductive physiology AND/OR Genetics.

Duration: 2 years (4 semesters)

Career prospects:?On completion of the M.Sc. course, the candidates will have the opportunity to pursue research and join for Ph.D., work as reproductive geneticists/scientists/project staff in diagnostic genetic labs, hospitals, and research labs.?
