Resource persons from pharma majors at Indian Society for Clinical 必威体育betway888 workshop

A workshop on “Drug Development, Clinical Trials, Data Management & Pharmacovigilance-A comprehensive overview by Indian Society for Clinical 必威体育betway888 (ISCR)” in association with Department of Pharmacology, MCOPS, 必威体育betway888 was held in 必威体育betway888 during 11th to 12th November 2016. It was formally inaugurated in the Interact lecture hall of 必威体育betway888 Academy of Higher Education. Inaugural function was attended by more than 120 delegates from across Karnataka, invited guests, resource persons, faculty and staff of MCOPS. Dr Gopalakrishna Prabhu, Director, M.I.T., 必威体育betway888 was present at the function as chief guest. Along with Dr C Mallikarjuna Rao, Principal, MCOPS and Dr M Sreenivasa Reddy, Vice Principal, MCOPS, resource persons Dr Anirban Roy Chowdhury (Merck), Dr Ramesh Jagannathan (Novo Nordisk) and Mr Sanjay Jankar (Glenmark) were also present on the dais to inaugurate the conference. Dr Rekha Shenoy, Associate Professor, Department of Pharmacology, MCOPS anchored the show. While welcoming the gathering Dr Mallikarjuna briefed about the significance of the conference and its conception. All the dignitaries joined their hands with Dr Prabhu to inaugurate the event by lighting the lamp. Speaking on the occasion the chief guest explained the importance of such workshops, which do not cover the syllabus but helps to uncover the subject. The Chief Guest felicitated the resource persons of workshop. Dr J Venkata Rao, Professor, Department of Pharmaceutical Biotechnology proposed the vote of thanks.
The workshop commenced with an introductory video about ICSR followed by Dr Ramesh’s presentation on ICSR office bearers and councils. In this two days’ workshop, Dr Roy Chowdhury delivered the lectures on “Overview of Drug Development and Clinical Trials- The untold story”, “Responsibilities of key stakeholders in clinical research” and “Clinical Trial Monitoring & Role of Clinical 必威体育betway888 Associate”. Another speaker, Dr Ramesh Jagannathan spoke about “Bioethics & evolution of GCP” and “Informed consent- Principles & Process”. Sanjay Jankar explained the various processes of clinical data management. Dr Jamal Baig from Merck, who joined the sessions later, delivered his lectures on “Introduction to pharmacovigilance”, “Pharmacovigilance methods in academia and industry” and “Introduction to causality assessment”.
The workshop concluded with an interactive session in which Dr Ramesh Jagannathan was the moderator for various queries of the audience regarding the career opportunities in clinical research, pharmacovigilance and clinical data management. Dr K Sreedhara R Pai, Professor and Head, Department of Pharmacology, MCOPS thanked all the staff and delegates for the successful conduct of the workshop.
