TCID?? Assay
Overview
A gold-standard assay to determine the dilution of a virus that infects 50% of cell cultures, widely used for virology research and vaccine potency evaluation.
Principle
- Serial dilutions of virus are added to cells in 96-well plates.
- After incubation, cytopathic effects (CPE) are observed.
- Viral titer is calculated using the Reed–Muench method.
Applications
- Standardizing viral inoculum for experiments
- Vaccine potency and challenge studies
- Antiviral drug efficacy evaluation
