The North East Studies Centre (NESC) at the Department of Geopolitics and 必威体育betway888 Relations of 必威体育betway888 Academy of Higher Education (MAHE), 必威体育betway888 organized a special address by Sri. P.B. Acharya, the Honourable Governor of Nagaland on North East Affairs. During the special address, the Honourable Governor emphasised on the centrality and importance of India’s northeastern region and its people to the growth and development of India. Dwelling on the rich cultural heritage of the people of the northeastern region and the talent of its people, he argued that a strong and powerful India should see the empowerment of every state and in this context, the prosperity of the eight states are inevitable. He urged students from the Northeast studying in different parts of India and the world, to go back to their home states and contribute to the development of their states, where they are needed the most. He spoke on how the understanding of the cultural dimension can help bridge the difference and how language binds the people and has often helped in the national integration process. The special address highlighted the resilience and uniqueness of India’s unity in diversity. ?The existence of alienation among the people of the North East can only be changed when they are completely integrated with the rest of the country, he argued. During the special address, Sri Acharya stressed on how the future of the North East, its people and their emotional integration to the rest of the country were intimately tied to the destiny of India as a great nation.
The Honourable Governor of Nagaland and Dr. H.S. Ballal, Pro-Chancellor of MAHE also released The North East Diary - A Newsletter on North East Affairs and A Panoramic View of the North East Region – a booklet on the eight sister states of the North East region. Dr. H. Vinod Bhat, the Vice Chancellor of MAHE addressed the gathering that included faculty members and students of MAHE. Prof. Arvind Kumar, Head of the Department of Geopolitics and 必威体育betway888 Relations, MAHE welcomed the gathering, Dr. Monish Tourangbam, Coordinator of NESC, MAHE gave an overview of the NESC and Dr. Pragna Rao, Dean of Kasturba Medical College, MAHE proposed the formal vote of thanks. Prof. Elsa Sanatombi Devi, Head of the Department of Medical Surgical Nursing, 必威体育betway888 College of Nursing, MAHE was the Master of Ceremony.
