Natural dyeing and eco print workshop

Natural dyeing and eco print workshop for II year, III semester MA (Fashion Management) and B. Des. (Fashion 23 august 2024 9.30am to 4.30pm Eco Print Workshop Design) students for Subject Fabric Studies II and Dyeing and Printing from 9.00 a.m. to 5.00 p.m . Ms. Swati Tiwari, Empanelled Designer, Office of Development Commissioner (Handicrafts), Ministry of Textiles, Govt. of India at UGF21, Department of Design, MSAP.

A Hands-on Training in Natural Dyeing and Eco printing workshop is organised for the Second year/III Semester B.Des Fashion Design Students and second-year/III Semester MA(Fashion Management) students, on 23.08.2024, Friday, from 9.00 am to 05.00 pm by Ms. Swati Tiwari, an Empanelled Designer at the Office of the Development Commissioner (Handicrafts), Ministry of Textiles, Government of India. Ms Swati Tiwari is a dedicated and skilled Apparel and Communication Designer with a passion for crafts and designing innovative sustainable solutions.

A solid background in working with grassroots craft communities of India to deliver appropriate sustainable strategies for growth. The workshop aims to inculcate sustainable ways of dyeing and printing fabrics using natural sources with the object to contribute significantly to our students' creative approach in designing collection and inspire them to apply learned techniques in their Fashion studio. Outcomes of the Programme were The workshop helped the students to understand the process of desizing, scouring and mordanting, the fabric, extraction of natural dye from madder and application of eco print. The techniques learned from the workshop will help to colour the fabric with natural dyes or embellish the fabric with eco pint motifs using natural sources in the ensembles designed as part of Fashion studio. 3 faculties and 31 students participated.
