Assistant Professor

Madhur brings extensive research and advocacy experience in criminal justice, counterterrorism laws, and human rights. She previously served as Visiting Faculty at the National Law School of India University, teaching "Prosecuting Terror: An Introduction to Counter-Terror Laws in India." Her research career includes significant roles at the Centre for Women and the Law (NLSIU) and as Project Coordinator at Quill Foundation, where she conducted legal and social audit of over 200 trial court cases in Maharashtra. Her practical legal experience spans human rights litigation and advocacy, having worked with legal aid organisations in north and central India. She has contributed to numerous publications and reports, addressing police violence, wrongful prosecution, minority rights, and access to justice. She has assisted advocacy efforts by statutory bodies for human rights and minorities, and carried out extensive documentation in the context of torture, freedoms of assembly, association and religion, and human rights defenders. Madhur's research focuses on the intersection of laws and marginalized communities. She has been part of an ongoing research project on legislations aimed at addressing violence against women. Her upcoming publications include a book chapter on prolonged incarceration under national security regimes.
