Qualification: Dr. Chanthu S teaches History in the Department of Liberal Arts, Humanities, and Social Sciences. He received his undergraduate degree in History from Loyola College, Chennai, and holds Master's, MPhil, and doctoral degrees from the University of Hyderabad. His MPhil thesis focused on the interventionist strategies of Periyar and EMS Namboodiripad in the print public sphere. His doctoral dissertation, Cultural Reshaping of the Self: Intellectual Interventions of EMS Namboodiripad in the Public Sphere, analysed the intellectual's writings against the backdrop of the evolution of public cultures and the interlinked process of the birth of the modern political subject in early-twentieth-century Malayalee society. The study won the Dr. Sheela Raj Memorial Medal for best PhD thesis in History (2023). His research interests include intellectual histories of the Global 必威体育betway888, modern subjectivities in 必威体育betway888 Asia, historiography, and visual anthropology, with a focus on gender and caste. Chanthu has presented research papers in various national and international forums and has published in peer-reviewed journals. His writings have also appeared on platforms like The Caravan, Anveshi Broadsheet on Contemporary Politics, and Malayalam web portals. Chanthu believes that understanding historical processes is vital for unpacking the given and developing creative interpretations of the world. He aspires to realise this motto through meaningful, inclusive pedagogical interventions. Before joining MAHE, he taught History at Mount Carmel College (Autonomous), Bengaluru, from 2022 to 2025.
