The Department of Pediatrics, KMC Mangalore, in collaboration with Government Wenlock Hospital, Indian Academy of Pediatrics—DK Branch, and Athena College of Nursing, hosted the Autism Awareness Event 2025 on April 5 at the Regional Advanced Pediatric Care Centre.
The event was graced by chief guest Dr B. Shantharam Baliga, Professor Emeritus, KMC Mangalore, who emphasized the impact of screen time and the need for early intervention in autism. Guests of Honour included Dr Suresh Kumar Shetty, Associate Dean, KMC Mangalore; Dr Shivaprakash D. S., District Medical Officer, Government Wenlock Hospital; Dr Sudhakar T., Resident Medical Officer, Government Wenlock Hospital; and Prof. Sr Deepa Peter, Principal, Athena College of Nursing, who all reiterated the importance of sustained awareness, familial involvement, and nursing care in managing autism.
